Villa Les Cedres with an area of 1670 m² was built in 1830. 20 years later the house was purchased by the mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer - here he planted an entire plantation of olive trees. Now the plants are already 300 years old. In 1904, Villefranche's relatives sold the mansion to King Leopold II of Belgium. The aristocrat decided to transform the house and expanded the garden, which still adorns the territory to this day.

In 1924, Les Cèdres acquired a new owner - tycoon Alexandre Marnier-Lapostole. Over the course of eighty years, the entrepreneur’s relatives planted a thousand exotic plants here, which adorn the garden to this day. In addition to this, the library houses thousands of botanical books. The cost of Les Cèdres is 450 million dollars.

More expensive than Buckingham Palace

The most expensive in the world is the Swiss Gold House in Switzerland - $12.5 billion. Interestingly, the exact location of the villa is not disclosed in order to avoid hype. The building in high-tech style has 725 m² available. Despite the mind-blowing price, the mansion has fewer bedrooms than previous properties - only eight bedrooms.

The large terrace offers incredible views of the mountains and valleys, a swimming pool and a garage. The price of almost 13 billion is explained by the exclusive raw materials from which the building was created. About two hundred tons of precious metals were used for finishing work. The floors are paved with meteorite stone, in which shavings of dinosaur bones were placed. The creator of the project was designer Stuart Hughes.
